MJC – College of Arts & Science for Women – International Day of Yoga

To spread the benefits of yoga, the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) organized an International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2021.  The main theme of this program was “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family”. Mrs. Vani Arumugam, Yoga Trainer, The Art of Living, Coimbatore conducted a live Yoga session through Google meet between 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The session was inaugurated by Dr. Nazeema, Principal of the College, who stated that the holistic approach to health, well-being is provided by the practice of Yoga. Thereafter the yoga instructor Mrs. Vani Arumugam enlightened the students about the benefits of yoga. She started the yoga practice session with a prayer. Followed by centering and breath awareness which took 5 minutes and warm-ups for 10 minutes. She also demonstrated the yoga postures which consisted of different asanas like Surya Namaskar, Padmasana, Balasana, Dhanurasana, Vajrasana, Virasana, Savanga Asana, Makarasana, Pavanmuktasan, Tadasan, Vrikshasana, Butterfly etc. for 40 minutes through online.
