To commemorate the 100^th Death Anniversary of Mahakavi Bharathiyar, a pioneer of modern Tamil Poetry, the department of Tamil Literature organized “Mahakavi Day” on 13^th September 2021. The programme started with invoking God’s Blessings through a prayer song which was followed a welcome speech by Ms. Rosy, II – BA(Tamil). Dr.Nazeema, the Principal, MJCAS, delivered the talk about the greatness of Bharathiar. It was followed by a poem recited by Ms.Pavithra, II – BA(Tamil), recited a poem which was written by her about the legendary poet, Mahakavi Bharathiyar. Touching patriotic songs written by Bharathiyar like ‘Vaazhiya Senthamizh’ and ‘Bharathiya Samudayam’ was rendered by the students. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. S. Suganthi, Head, Department of Tamil Literature.
