NATIONAL YOUTH DAY

The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) celebrated ‘National Youth Day on the occasion of the 158th birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda on 12th January 2021.

The programme started with invoking God’s Blessings through a prayer song led by Ms.Akshaya, Assistant Professor which was followed by a welcome speech by Dr. P.TamilSelvi, NSS Programme Officer. The principal, faculty members, and students paid tribute to the star of youth Swami Vivekananda and lit the candles.

On this auspicious occasion, the motivational talk was delivered through Google meet by Mr. S. Senthil Kumar, Director, Center for Cultural Education and Research, Tamilnadu. He also highlighted Swamiji’s teachings for building a holistic student personality. He said that education cannot be just focused on college, exams, and marks obtained in the examinations but must imbibe the qualities of empathy and awareness towards society and its challenges.

Addressing the students, Dr. T.H. Nazeema, Principal, reflected light on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and its importance in student’s life. She encouraged the students to follow the qualities of curiosity and fearlessness in every endeavor they undertake. Also, she asked everyone to follow the philosophy of love for increasing solidarity and brotherhood in society. It was followed by a poem recited by Mrs.ShanmugaPriya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics which was written by her about the efforts of youth towards their dreams. The event ended with the vote of thanks was delivered by Ms.Nithya, YRC Programme Officer and the programme ended with the National Anthem.
