The NSS volunteers of Michael Job College of Arts & Science for Women cleaned the government school classrooms and playground on 5 February 2021 at Somanur. The clean-up involved removing weeds and sweeping the entire area. All stagnant water containers like tyres, plastic cups, coconut shells, plastic bottles, broken pots, etc were removed from the school premises and surroundings. Such materials were loaded onto the garbage collection vehicle. They covered the cement tanks with plates to prevent mosquito breeding. The water storage containers were thoroughly washed with bleaching powder and brush. Water chlorination was also taken to avoid the breeding of mosquitoes in the water tanks. They also cleared the bushes and wild plants present in the ground. They cleaned the entire ground and spent nearly about a day on this noble mission.
On this occasion, NSS Programme Officer, Dr. P.Tamil Selvi, said that by cleaning and developing the villages we are all contributing to development of the Nation. She motivated the volunteers to work towards Gandhiji’s dream of building a Clean India.
